EngagementEngagement

Four kinds of counterparty. One standard of accountability.

WRG can be a buyer, an operating partner, a lender or a joint-venture capital source, sometimes more than one at once. What follows is how each relationship typically begins.

Owners
Liquidity & succession
Operators
Real estate & equipment
Sponsors
Joint venture capital
Intermediaries
Discretion & speed
Business owners

Certainty, and a counterparty who intends to stay.

Succession, recapitalization and partner liquidity handled by a buyer using its own balance sheet. No financing contingency to clear, and no fund life dictating what happens to the business in year five.

  • Direct investment
  • Recapitalization
  • Succession capital
Operators

A balance-sheet partner who has run the business.

Senior living operators, contractors and industrial businesses working with an owner who has held licences, met payroll and managed a census, not an allocator reading a deck. Capital, real estate and equipment can come from the same conversation.

  • Sale-leaseback
  • Equipment finance
  • Growth capital
Real estate sponsors

Capital that closes on the sponsor's timeline.

Joint ventures, preferred and structured positions behind sponsors who know their market. Decisions come from principals in the room, with no outside credit committee and no syndication process between a site and a signature.

  • Joint venture
  • Preferred equity
  • Development capital
Intermediaries & families

A private counterparty who behaves the same in year ten.

Bankers, brokers, lenders and family capital bringing situations that need discretion and a firm answer. Most of our best outcomes are second and third transactions with people who tested us on a first one.

  • Structured capital
  • Credit positions
  • Co-investment
Diligence

Questions we are asked before the first meeting ends.

Do you invest outside the four platforms?

Yes. That is what the opportunistic platform is for. The three defined platforms describe where our operating knowledge is deepest, not the limit of what the balance sheet will consider.

Whose capital is it?

Ours. There is no fund, no vintage year and no outside limited partner whose calendar governs a decision or an exit.

How fast can you give a real answer?

A principal reads the situation directly and gives a candid indication of interest and supportable terms, usually within days, including a fast decline with the reason attached.

How long will you hold?

Indefinitely by default. We sell when ownership is no longer the best use of the asset, not when a fund life requires it.

Tell us which platform the situation belongs to and we will route the conversation to the principal who owns it.
